Stephen King's It
In 1986, Stephen King introduced the world to his latest incarnation of evil in with the publication of his novel, It. “It” is a shapeshifter, capable of transforming itself into personifications of its victims’ worst fears. He primarily appears as “Pennywise, the Dancing Clown,” in order to attract and murder young children. Pennywise masks for mens Halloween costumes resemble a classic children’s clown, with white face, a red nose and frizzed out red hair, but with eyebrows that hint at the evil within.
Stephen King’s novel was adapted into a two-part television movie, first airing on ABC in November of 1990. In an interview conducted while the film was still being edited, Stephen King referred to Lawrence Cohen’s screenplay as “a damn masterpiece,” although he bemoaned the fact that the network had demanded the film be cut from its original six hours to four. “Cohen still did a pretty good job,” King conceded.
Stephen King was aware that the changes and cuts to the television movie would upset some fans of the novel. “Sometimes I forget how angry the fans get if there are any changes,” he admitted. While many fans of the novel were, indeed, disappointed, the movie itself enjoyed great success. Part I garnered an audience of 17.5 million households. Part II was the second highest rated program on the night it aired.
One undeniable highlight of the television movie is Tim Curry’s portrayal of Pennywise. Curry's participation in the movie is one reason Halloween outfits portraying Pennywise are so fashionable. The star of the original The Rocky Horror Picture Show film, Curry dove into the role with characteristic gusto. “What’s fun about him is that a clown is traditionally a very cozy, comforting kind of image, and Pennywise is none of these,” Curry commented in an interview. “I think of him as a smile gone bad.” That “smile gone bad” description fits well with Pennywise Halloween outfits.
“The eyebrows were the hardest thing to get right,” Curry also noted. Mens Halloween costumes depicting Pennywise feature those carefully-arched eyebrows, as well as the typical “happy clown” suit that so belies the evil intent of Pennywise. In March of 2009, Warner Bros. announced that they would produce a new adaptation of Stephen King’s It, to be released in theatres in 2011. Currently, not much else is known about the upcoming remake. With a 25th anniversary edition of the novel expected to be released in 2011, it is a safe bet that the creature “It” will be terrorizing readers and film buffs for years, and that mens Halloween costumes depicting Pennywise will continue to be popular costumes for Halloween.

Dressing up, or “guising” for Halloween is first recorded in Scotland in 1895, where townsfolk would go door to door with hollowed out turnips, and were rewarded in kind with fruit, money, and cakes. In 1911, “guising” was first recorded in Canada, and by the 1930s, costumes were first mass produced in the United States. This coincides with the 1931 release of the film version of Bram Stoker’s Dracula, starring Bela Lugosi. Prior to the literary, and subsequent film version of Dracula, popular folklore envisioned vampires as bloated, rather disgusting creatures. Bela Lugosi brought to the screen a charming, sophisticated vampire. It would soon be emulated in men's Halloween costumes worldwide.
The vampire men's Halloween costumes of today still resemble the character of Bela Lugosi as Dracula: a long flowing black cape with collar, a vest, a button down shirt, black pants, black shoes, and pendant. Perhaps the most memorable scene of Bela is when Renfield arrives, and we catch the first glimpse of Dracula coming down the stairs. In his first line of the movie, chillingly, he simply says, “I am Dracula.”
Women’s Halloween outfits of modern times are not completely dissimilar. They can be long and flowing, or short and sexy, but they typically adhere to the button and cape style of dress of the masculine Dracula. Children’s Halloween outfits follow the same pattern, and you can even order a Dracula costume for your dog.
Beginning in the late 1990s to early 2000s, vampire popularization experienced a new resurgence with TV shows like “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” and in 2005, an author named Stephenie Meyer released a novel called Twilight, which really brought vampires into the spotlight. Twilight exploded into a series of books and movies, the popularity of which was unparalleled.
The men's Halloween costumes from Twilight are quite different than that of your typical Dracula. Female costumes associated with Twilight are on the plainer side, if one is to emulate the character Bella, the main female character, correctly. To dress as Bella, your main accessory would be simply a corduroy jacket. Edward, the main male character in the book and movie, does not sport the flowing cape. He does favour a plaid button down shirt, Ray Ban sunglasses, and for the true Twilight fan, shimmer powder, as Edward does sparkle.

Michael Myers Becoming One Of The Most Popular Mens Halloween costumes
With all the imagery of halloween Outfits and fancy dress, watching horror movies has become a tradition.With many of the most popular mens Halloween Costumes taken from the movies. Halloween was released on October, 25, 1978 with a budget of $325,000. It was turned into a novel written by Curtis Richards. The plot centers on the festival of Samhain and Michael Myer's (Nick Castle) incarceration at Smith's Grove Sanitarium. The police arrive to the Myers' family home in 1963 to find Judith Myers, a seventeen-year-old female murdered by her six-year-old brother Michael while wearing one of his Halloween outfits.
Michael is sent to Smith's Grove. On the eve of Halloween in 1978, Michael escapes the sanitarium and journeys to his hometown of Haddonfield, Illinois. Many of the citizens of Haddonfield have forgotten the violent events fifteen years ago. The only person aware of Michael's past history and violent nature is Dr. Samuel Loomis (veteran actor Donald Pleasence). Dr. Loomis is Michael's personal psychiatrist and has spent the past fifteen years getting to know Michael and his violent nature.
Dr. Loomis does his best to stop Michael from unleashing his violent intentions on the citizens of Haddonfield. Michael has an agenda throughout the movie revolving around a teenager named Laurie Strode (Jaime Lee Curtis). As the story unfolds, it is revealed that Laurie is Michael's younger sister given up for adoption after the violence of fifteen years ago. Michael stalks her along with her friends throughout the film you can easily reconise him in one of his more traditional Mens Halloween Costumes and Halloween Outfitsseen on the streets today at Halloween. He gradually violently murders everyone who is close to Laurie. Eventually, he gets to Laurie and finds resistance from Dr. Loomis who has pieced together Michael's agenda by uncovering Laurie's past. The film ends as Michael is shot in the chest six times by Dr. Loomis.
This film is Jaime Lee Curtis's first film role and earned her the title of "Scream Queen." The low budget of the film did not allow for many famous actors to be involved with the first film. The role of Dr. Sam Loomis was offered to Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee but they declined due to low pay.
Altogether, ten Halloween movies have been released all of them having there own individual Halloween outfits. He was promptly brought back for Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers. The sequel numbers for the original films stop at 5. After that 3 more Halloween films were released, including the curse of Michael Myers, H20 Twenty years later and Resurrection. In 2007, Rob Zombie directed the remake of Halloween and Halloween 2 in 2009. Zombie's creepier versions relied heavily on Halloween outfits and seventies fancy dress.
